Route 66 12U Boys
JO 2026 Future-Day Predictions
Live-adjusted forecast for Friday through Sunday scheduling, using current public sheet results through Route 66's first two Group E games. The first published prediction model is left unchanged.
Executive Read
Model call: Route 66 controls Group E. Beat YOLO at 3:20 PM and they should lock the clean first-place path into ag_R1; the 6-2 win over 680 White gives real cushion.
Sources And Assumptions
- Public JO schedule spreadsheet: 2026_NJO_Public_Sched_S2, tab 12U_M_Classic_53, read live July 23 at about 2:25 PM PDT. Sheet currently shows Route 66 15-4 over Cal Republic Red and 6-2 over 680 White. GameChanger screenshot had Cal Republic at 3; this page uses the sheet for bracket routing, while GameChanger remains the scoring truth for film and stat review.
- Route 66 historical season model: 25 tracked games, 8-17 overall, 169 GF / 285 GA; recent 10 games at 2-8, 5.0 GF / 11.5 GA.
- Prior game reports and film notes from JO Quals and Futures League: Q1 starts, transition defense, outlet speed, and over-reliance on Joshua as main shot creator.
- JO roster screenshot supplied by Olea. Roster depth is treated as a risk variable because one sick or unavailable core player changes the close-game forecast.
Caveat: the public sheet shows bracket routing and game slots, but not tie-break procedures. Pool ties still need official JO rules.
Live Group E Status
| Game | Sheet Status | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Thu 8:40 AM, Ocean View HS 2 12BX-010 vs Cal Republic Red |
Route won 15-4 Sheet result; GC screenshot showed 15-3. |
Job done. Big margin keeps Route ahead in any goal-differential discussion if tie-breaks matter. |
| Thu 9:30 AM, Ocean View HS 2 12BX-015 YOLO vs 680 White |
680 White won 6-3 | Major help for Route. YOLO already has a loss, so Route is not chasing the group anymore. |
| Thu 12:00 PM, Ocean View HS 2 12BX-029 vs 680 White |
Route won 6-2 | Best bracket result of the day so far. Route owns the head-to-head over the team that beat YOLO. |
| Thu 12:50 PM, Ocean View HS 2 12BX-034 YOLO vs Cal Republic Red |
Pending on sheet | A YOLO win keeps them alive; a Cal Republic upset nearly locks Route before the 3:20 game. |
| Thu 3:20 PM, Ocean View HS 2 12BX-048 vs YOLO |
Upcoming | Win and Route should finish 1st in Group E. A loss creates tie-break math. |
| Thu 4:10 PM, Ocean View HS 2 12BX-053 680 White vs Cal Republic Red |
Upcoming | Only becomes critical for Route if the YOLO game creates a multi-team tie. |
Working table: Route 66 2-0, 680 White 1-1, YOLO 0-1, Cal Republic Red 0-1. Tie-break rules are still not encoded in the public sheet.
Main Path: Win Group E
Route: Beat YOLO -> finish 1st in Group E -> enter Friday as ag_R1. This avoids the Thursday 6:40 PM crossover and gives the cleanest recovery window.
Friday, July 24: ag_R Group
| Time | Game | Likely Meaning | Planning Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 11:10 AM Golden West College 2 |
12BX-075 ag_R1 vs ag_R2 |
Route 66 vs 1st L. Live bracket watch points to Carlsbad A or NorCal Black. | This is the Friday key game. Treat it like a quarterfinal. |
| 2:30 PM Golden West College 2 |
12BX-091 ag_R1 vs ag_R3 |
Route 66 vs W58, the winner of the 2nd I vs 2nd H crossover. | Must avoid the flat second-game pattern. Rotate early if ahead. |
| 5:50 PM Golden West College 2 |
12BX-107 ag_R2 vs ag_R3 |
No Route game unless schedule changes; this result determines 1st/2nd/3rd ag_R. | Someone should track this because it controls Saturday placement. |
ag_R Opponent Watch
| Feed | Current Narrowing | Why |
|---|---|---|
| ag_R1 | 1st E: Route 66 if they beat YOLO and finish the group. | Route is already 2-0 on the sheet and owns the 680 White head-to-head. |
| ag_R2 | 1st L: likely Carlsbad A; NorCal Black is the realistic spoiler. | Carlsbad A beat Texas Thunder 17-1 and Park City 19-1. NorCal Black beat Park City 15-6 and Texas Thunder 16-11. Their head-to-head decides Group L unless the later sheet update changes something. |
| ag_R3 | Winner of 12BX-058: 2nd I vs 2nd H. Most likely Back Bay vs Carlsbad B. | CIU Gold and CC United Blue are favored to win Groups I/H. If either gets upset, the crossover gets tougher fast: CIU Gold or CC United Blue could become the second-place team instead. |
Better read: Friday is likely Route 66, Carlsbad A or NorCal Black, and the Back Bay/Carlsbad B crossover winner. The danger version is Route facing Carlsbad A plus a dropped top seed from I/H.
If Route Finishes 1st In ag_R
- Sat 8:50 AM, Tustin HS 2: 2v5 QF, 12BX-118, 1st ag_N vs 1st ag_R.
- Win the QF and the next game is Sat 12:10 PM, Tustin HS 2, 12BX-136. Win again and Route reaches a Sunday semifinal.
- Sunday ceiling: 1st/2nd game at 2:00 PM or 3rd/4th game at 1:00 PM, both at Tustin HS 2.
- Lose the QF and Route still has a 5th-8th path if they win the 1:50 PM play-in route.
If Route Finishes 2nd In ag_R
- Sat 10:30 AM, Tustin HS 2: 9-16 QF, 12BX-127, 2nd ag_N vs 2nd ag_R.
- Win and Route is in the 9th-12th bracket. Lose and Route falls into 13th-16th.
- This is the conservative scheduling estimate if Friday ag_R includes a bad matchup or fatigue game.
If Route Finishes 3rd In ag_R
- Sat 12:10 PM, Beckman HS 2: 17th-24th, 12BX-140, 3rd ag_N vs 3rd ag_R.
- Sunday becomes a 17th/19th/21st/23rd placement path depending Saturday results.
- This is the risk path if Route loses the YOLO-type close games and cannot protect the ball late.
Fallback Path: Finish 2nd In Group E
Route: This path is now only the fallback if Route loses to YOLO and tie-breaks push them to 2nd Group E. That would mean Thu 6:40 PM crossover at Ocean View HS 2, 12BX-061, 2nd L vs 2nd E. The winner appears to climb into ag_U; the loser drops to bz_P1.
If Route Wins The Thursday Crossover
| Friday Slot | Path | Prediction |
|---|---|---|
| 1:40 PM, San Clemente HS 12BX-088 |
ag_U1 vs ag_U3 | If Route is ag_U3, this is likely the first Friday game. |
| 5:00 PM, San Clemente HS 12BX-104 |
ag_U2 vs ag_U3 | Second Friday game. Late-day legs and hydration become a bigger factor. |
Winning the crossover keeps a top-8 ceiling alive, but the recovery cost is real: four Thursday games, then a Friday group against stronger teams.
If Route Loses The Thursday Crossover
| Friday Slot | Path | What It Means |
|---|---|---|
| 9:30 AM, Capistrano Valley HS 2 12BX-074 |
bz_P1 vs bz_P4 | Route would need to win this to stay on the better bronze-side placement track. |
| 3:20 PM or 4:10 PM, Capistrano Valley HS 2 12BX-094 / 12BX-110 |
1st/2ndP or 3rd/4thP | Afternoon slot depends on the morning result. |
Bronze-side Saturday placement then branches into 1st/2nd/3rd/4th bz_P outcomes: 1st bz_P has a 4v7 QF at 8:50 AM Saturday; 2nd bz_P goes to a 9-16 QF at 12:10 PM; 3rd/4th bz_P fall into lower placement paths.
Multiple Outcomes To Plan Around
| Scenario | Trigger | Likely Finish Band | Coach Priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| A. Clean chalk path | 2-0 start already done; beat YOLO, then 2-0 Friday ag_R. | Top 8, with a real 5th-6th path and outside medal-board chance if Saturday goes right. | Win Q1s, no counter leaks, keep Joshua fresh for Saturday. |
| B. Good but not perfect | Beat YOLO, then split Friday ag_R. | 9th-12th most likely. | Late-clock shot quality and defensive balance after missed shots. |
| C. YOLO flips it | Lose to YOLO and tie-breaks drop Route to 2nd, possibly forcing the 6:40 PM crossover. | Wide range: top 12 if crossover is won; 17th-24th risk if lost. | Energy management, simple offense, no panic passing under pressure. |
| D. Depth stress | Player sick, goalie issue, early foul trouble, or bench short. | 13th-20th risk even if Day 1 starts well. | Protect Ryan's legs, keep EJ/Nathaniel/Beckett ready for defensive minutes, avoid cheap exclusions. |
Close-Game Win Conditions
- First possession defense: no free center entry in the first two minutes. Route has to make opponents earn goals early.
- Shot selection: if the shot is low percentage, it has to be paired with defensive balance. Bad shots are transition passes for the other team.
- Joshua usage: use him to bend the defense, but do not let every possession become one-player offense. Need at least two other kids attacking seams.
- EJ role: defensive stops, quick outlets, and one or two decisive drives per half. His value rises if he is active without forcing shots.
- Goalie protection: Ryan can keep them in close games if shooters are pressured and counters are slowed before the 5-meter area.
- Bench plan: steal rest after goals and dead balls. Do not wait until a core player is visibly gassed.
